How to Convert Jio SIM to eSIM
Switch your existing Jio number from a physical SIM to an eSIM using the MyJio app. Follow these quick steps, understand the cooling period, and activate your eSIM safely.
Before you start
- Your phone must support eSIM and show an EID (embedded SIM ID).
- Keep the email ID linked to your Jio account handy; you may receive the eSIM profile there.
- Make sure your Jio number is active and can receive OTP and calls.
Switch to eSIM in the MyJio app (3 steps)
- Open MyJio, search for eSIM, then choose Switch to eSIM.
- Confirm your email address and proceed. When asked, enter the EID of the device where you want to activate the eSIM.
- Verify using the OTP sent to your Jio number to submit the eSIM request.
Cooling period (about 2 hours): After you place the request, there’s a short processing window. You can continue using your number as usual during this time.
Confirm & install the eSIM profile
- You’ll receive an IVR call on your Jio number asking you to confirm the eSIM request. Follow the prompts to approve.
- After approval, you’ll get either a device notification to add the eSIM profile, or a QR code via email from
notification@jio.com. - Install the eSIM profile on the same device for which you submitted the EID and complete activation.
Where to find your EID
- iPhone: Settings → General → About → EID.
- Android (varies by brand): Settings → About phone → SIM status (or Status) → EID. You can also dial
*#06#to display identifiers including EID on many phones.
FAQs
Will my physical SIM stop working immediately?
It will continue to work during the cooling period. After eSIM activation, the physical SIM is typically deactivated for that number.
What if I don’t receive the IVR call or email?
Retry from MyJio, check spam for notification@jio.com, and ensure your number has network during the cooling period.
Can I move this eSIM to another phone?
You’ll need to place a fresh eSIM request for the new device’s EID via MyJio.
Safety tip: Approve the eSIM request only from the official IVR and within MyJio. Don’t share OTPs on unsolicited calls.
